MUSIC EDUCATOR/SINGER/MUSICIAN/SONGWRITER/PRODUCER Kidada, a multifaceted artist, educator, and producer, emerged from a rich musical background that seamlessly blended genres and influences. Born into a family deeply rooted in gospel, her mother’s angelic voice and her father’s prowess as a heavy metal lead guitarist created a diverse musical tapestry that shaped Kidada’s early development. The journey into music began as she explored various styles, from Rock to Hip Hop. Endowed with a musical ear inherited from her father, Kidada found herself drawn to the world of instrumentation. Her early exposure to different genres laid the foundation for a musical odyssey that would see her embrace a wide spectrum of sounds.
Kidada’s musical exploration led her to discover her affinity for playing instruments. With her mother guiding her, she started singing in gospel concerts from a very young age, refining her vocal range from F#2 to C#6. Remarkably, by the age of 13, Kidada was entrusted with teaching and instructing adult and youth church choirs, showcasing her precocious talent. The pivotal moment in Kidada’s musical journey occurred when she realized her ability to play by ear on the piano and replicate tunes heard on the radio. This revelation solidified her conviction that music was her true calling, setting her on a path she had never wavered from. A scholarship to Central State University equipped Kidada with music theory, laying the foundation for her musical artistry.
International tours with various artists took her to several European cities, preparing her for a future on Broadway. Inspired during overseas flights, Kidada began to craft her narratives, evolving into a songwriter. The stage became a canvas for Kidada’s talents, with appearances in plays like “That’s The Way Love Goes” and “Sister Act 2.” This eventually led to a musical theater role in the Broadway play “Sing Hallelujah,” earning her accolades and media attention.
Kidada’s journey took her to California, where she expanded her horizons by performing at renowned venues like the Kodak Theater and participating in major events such as the BET Awards. She lent her vocal prowess as a background singer to icons like Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Chaka Khan, and others, while also showcasing her piano skills behind gospel greats.
Today, Kidada stands not just as an artist but as a well-rounded professional in the music industry. A producer, engineer, vocal coach, and music educator, she is currently enrolled at Berklee College of Music. Serving as a prominent member of Black Transit Productions and now actively the CEO of The Musical Perspective, she has cultivated a multifaceted career. Kidada has created a culmination of dreams that listeners are invited to be a part of, as she continues her remarkable musical journey.
